Lower air fares are adding to the attractiveness of real estate in Dubai

Dubai boat taxiThe Borj al Arab in Dubai

Fares between London and Dubai have, in real terms, dropped dramatically over the past ten years or so. Whenever air fares are lowered on international routes, the sudden availability of cheaper fares tends to have a very favourable impact on the local property market. Properties within a 20 mile radius the destination airport can rise in value by around 20%, and often by much more.

Dubai property prices are continuing their upward trend and with lower airfares further stimulating the market, the attraction of Dubai properties shows no sign of waning.

Flying to Dubai

Several mainstream carriers operate flights between London and Dubai as well as, Dublin and Dubai. Furthermore, the new breed of low-cost airlines are interested in offering flights to Dubai in the near future; so it is reasonable to expect even lower fares in the coming years.

Direct flights to Dubai are classed as medium to long haul and have an approximate duration of 7.5hrs. Here's a sample of (return) air fares currently available:

Note: All fares are "from" and were sampled on the 25th April 2008

London - Dubai

  • British Airways - £298
  • Virgin Atlantic - £296
